What is the best wine ever? Great question. Is there a right answer or is it really just a query which serves to ignite our thinking electrodes…?
What is the meaning of life? Let’s tackle the easy one first.
Once upon a time there was a man who desired to become enlightened and learn the true meaning of life. He asked his teachers, his advisors, and his religious leaders, and each answered differently, and each answer was unsatisfying to the man.
One day he heard about a very wise sage that lived deep in the Himalayas who knew the answer. The man went on the dangerous trip and endured horrific conditions to get to the sage.
Finally one day he came to a small hut and inside found the old sage. He dropped to his knees and cried out, “It is said you are wise beyond all, and I have struggled greatly to find you”.
“What is it that you wish of me?” asked the sage. The man replied, “I want to know the meaning of life!”
“Ah,” said the sage, “that’s easy, always agree with everybody.” After hearing that the man was so disappointed in the response, he stood up angrily and yelled, “It couldn’t be that simple.” To which the sage replied, “You are most certainly right.”
Ok, take a second…let it sink in.
Ok, so what does that simple answer have to do with deciding which is the best wine ever?
The answer is just as simple…the answer is every wine…every wine that YOU like.
It’s your palate and it’s your nose. You will have to drink it and you have probably paid for it.
So why would anyone else decide if you should like it or not…?
Great wine or lousy wine…whatever your verdict…You are most certainly right.
And now, do what the sage advised, pause here, and say, Amato, you are most certainly right.
